last weekend i went to belgium to the wedding party of sok and georg. we stayed in a big country house south of dinant (a little town with a big split pointy rock right by the river). the house was called something like "villa de roses" because of all the roses. during the war it was occupied by the nazis and used as both a prison and a brothel, said the young woman whose family owns the house. paloma. all the boys thought she was beautiful, and so did all the girls.
i was inspired by her beauty. that is, i was inspired to help with the yard work. in french, a wheelbarrow is called a brouette, and a shovel is a pelle, and a rake is a ... uh ... rateau. i carried brouettes full of fallen leaves, to the compost heap in the woods where they could be dumped.
paloma couldn't speak any vlaams or nederlands, because she was absent from belgium the day they taught it.
the wedding ceremony was pretty cool. some people had come down from raalte in the netherlands, and some from amsterdam. then there were a pile of georg's comrades from the campus radio station of brussel. a lot of people were speaking a lot of french.
in the morning we were awakened by the rooster next door. coque.
when i got back here, i set to work on my projects again. we have started shooting "she is" and i have started editing "seeing deeper". i also seem to be obliged to make more product films than i had counted on, so the company is going to try and help me set up the resources needed to cause them. but i do feel like i must prioritize delivering that work which i actually promised and proposed.
tomorrow is nic and vinz' goodbye at mulligan's, they leave on 06 november for australia. i shoot in the morning and early afternoon, then must go there.
there's a possibility that i can move to the basement room at witte de withstraat. i haven't had time to seriously look for an apartment.
i've been sporadically in touch with my sister liz. apparently cause of death was an unlucky combination of drugs the victim had already been taking for years, so it seems strange that it would suddenly kill her.
ok that's it for now i guess. oh yeah, jud's dog died. he must be very sad.
