opzeggingen en aanwijzigingen and stuff
i'm a collossal procrastinator when it comes to using the telephone to call strangers. i'm even shy about calling my friends. i just don't like using telephones. like what is up with that. anyway i finally got round to making a bunch of calls about cancelling or transferring accounts when i move house.
kpn is planning to do my installation on 07 december, so i will supposedly get my current phone number back at that point -- assuming all goes well. nuon is gonna send me a meter card that i have to fill in. upc is gonna cancel me at the end of december. waternet i'm supposed to phone on the day i leave, with the meter info. xs4all said i should just call them again right after the phone line has moved. that surprised me, for some reason i thought they needed advance notice.
i also did my doorzenden business with TNTpost, both for myself personally and for the company. (i've made the mistake before of assuming everybody out there knew my company was me, which ain't always so.)
i still have to mail out my change of address notices to the belastingdienst and insurance company and some of my vendors. and at some point i need to do the sign-out sign-in thing with the stadsdeel kantoren, and change my address with the kamer van koophandel.
also this morning i made some long-awaited fixes to harpe.com.
i went out last night to drink with kees, and it was pretty busy out there. the documentary film festival IDFA this year is centered in rembrandtplein (tuschinski, pathe de munt etc), because the city theater in leidseplein is being renovated. result: there are *tons* of people about rembrandtplein.
now that i'm done with my big überproject for this year, it's sinking in that vincent and nicole are gone. hmm. i'm gonna miss running into them on mondays.
in the news a few days ago. a woman in saudi arabia went out and got in a car with a guys she wasn't related to. then some other guys kidnapped her and gang-raped her. now the rapists have been convicted of their crime, and the woman has been sentenced to 200 lashes and six months in prison, for violating islamic law. the judge seemed to think she had provoked the rapists by her wanton lascivious act of getting in someone's car. everybody, including me, is pretty furious about that.
the "anne frank tree" has been given a temporary reprieve ... amsterdam judge wasn't convinced the tree poses an immediate threat to public safety. lots of tree activists think it can be supported to live for another 30 years. stichting anne frank sides with the property owner and wants it cut down immediately. they want mayor cohen to intervene and declare some kind of emergency, so he can overrule the judge.
i'm not sure what it is about stadsdeel centrum, that they're always in the news for wanting to cut down trees in this city.
