saw micheline and wim
it's sunday evening.
this afternoon i went to the dance street theater on eerste rozendwarsstraat, and saw a performance by the chansoniste micheline dumonceau and pianist wim veenhof. some of those songs are really great i think. actually i only stayed for the first set cuz i wasn't feeling so lekker, then i came home. but the songs i heard really impressed me, the texts are clever and this performance was damn good. and i was happy to hear wim play on a decent piano.
i was one of those moments when i found myself wishing aj were there to experience it with me.
i was walking home just past sunset, which comes early at this time of year. lots of silhouetted gables against that melancholy december afterglow. there was something romantic about it. it took about half an hour to walk home.
both friday and saturday night i went to the cave. friday night a really good band called "celice"? was playing, they were incredibly tight and well rehearsed i thought, and the sound quality was also very good -- which is unusual when you put a big metal sound in a small place like the cave.
i went there again saturday night and saw djox, dennis, marina, hg, isaura, tommy, brenda, chicha and of course aram. it was a sort of birthday feest for irmo, who used to work at the black and white but now works sometime at the cave. also a bartender i didn't know was there, turns out his name is floris. the cave is a nice place, there are a lot of nice people who go there. last night i walked home, along marnixstraat to de clercqstraat and then up to de ruijterweg to wdw. i needed the exercise. at some point i phoned aj from my mobieltje, she was in connecticut returning from a holiday dinner with her parents.
tonight i am staying home, not feeling so great. i'm kinda hoping to take tomorrow off from work too. jk's just gone off to mulligan's to the sunday session.
tomorrow my münchen nephew dc is going for a holiday visit to massachusetts. he said he was homesick. it looks like i myself will be going to america toward the end of january.
