human companionship
i was starting to write a short movie in which three people meet while going to hear a guru talk. one is a farm boy from vermont, who really believes this guy is the enlightened one. then there's a cynical window-washer, and a young woman in telephone customer service. they end up disappointed by the swami's lecture, and bum around that night complaining about how there's no meaning in their lives, while huddling under a big cold night sky in the city. my idea was that the meaning was eluding them — they were looking for something that was happening to them already, but didn't notice it. human companionship being all there is.
