an article in magazine "the sun" (lent to me on leaving boston by my beloved) describes how the whole world is ruled by huge underground networks of fungus, or mycelia something. after each mass extinction, surviving small organisms form new partnerships with fungi, which enables life to go on. and which, if true, means instead of panicking about the current mass extinction, we should merely prepare to be nostalgic.

ok i am now officially out of coffee. this means i need to do something i've successfully weaseled out of doing since mid january: go to the albert heijn.
