electronic whining as a placeholder for ethnic cleansing
reading the news. authorities in NL have been testing a device called "mosquito" which generates an irritating buzz, of such high frequency that only people under age 25 can hear it. it's being used to drive away "hangjongeren" (hang youths) from "hangplekken" (hang spots). 300 of these are working in various gemeentes in NL. 3000 of them are already in use in the UK.
one minister (rouvoet) is questioning the constitutionality of the mosquito's use. it may be a violation of "personal life sphere" protected under articles 10 and 11. and "the buzzing sound is also supposedly irritating for people for whom it isn't intended, such as little children".
this kind of thing pisses me off. cities are supposed to be designed to *encourage* their residents to hang out in public spaces. that's why we have public spaces at all.
but now some people have become dissatisfied with who "the public" includes. they are nervous of the behavior of certain teenagers. so those people want to use law enforcement and/or technology to make everyone under age 25 "go away". where to? nobody's saying.
to me it's all just sublimated genocide. the invention these racists really want isn't a high-pitched buzzer, but a device that quietly vaporizes any human being who is male, under age 20, unemployed, and moroccan. but they haven't the guts to openly advocate a final solution, so the next best thing is to delegate their whining to a machine.
