gracie the cat is dead
on monday morning i visited a photo studio at postjesweg 1, the photographer said he'd be happy to rent his studio to me (for a very reasonable price) but he's not gonna be here this saturday. so i might just work out a way to shoot the film at home instead.
i had an urge to go sit out and have dinner at st james' gate, like old times. met kh there. the food and the service seemed even worse than usual, even the beer was horrible. so i felt bad about that, cuz it is a nice place to sit out. then we went to mulligan's, and i felt bad about that too: i was made to feel unwanted in the place i've always considered my stamkroeg. that was a bit traumatizing i have to admit. after a quick, surreal visit to the knitting circle at café de jaren, with some trepidation i moved on to the cave -- fearing that something bad might happen there too. but nothing bad happened at the cave, except that i stayed till lock-the-doors-and-go-home time, which is sometime after closing time.
when i woke up i noticed a voicemail from dmf telling me that gracie the cat had just "passed away". i talked to her tuesday night. she said she waited with the body till it was cold. jude (the other cat, "my" cat actually) sniffed gracie for a while, and when he got to smelling her ear something spooked him and he took off. during the day tuesday dmf got some help from a friend and buried gracie in the back yard of her house in orchard park.
on tuesday night i went to utrechtsestraat 95 and helped djox film a band called moon addict, who played to the street from the windows above an old butcher shop. on the way home i found a night shop and bought some extra coffee and tobacco, so that i would not have to leave the house at all today (it being queen's day).
