kawa z mlekiem
15.25 caffe weranda, on a ped shopping street in sanok. i tried to put in my scheduled call to client but she didn't pick up at either number. i wore my green scarf when i came out this afternoon, which is good cuz otherwise i would have a chill. but the rain has stopped for now. good coffee (finally, that instant coffee at the hotel is pretty horrible), kawa z mlekiem means coffee with milk. then we started drinking beer (pilsner urquell). baz and pani went to bank to try to get some cash for him. then they try western union. i keep sitting outside at weranda. it's nice to be able to sit down, drink *and* smoke all at the same time. everywhere yesterday i was standing out in the rain to have a cigarette. my feet hurt after a while, i was wearing my big black shoes, but then i figured shut up the girls have it worse than you. this is the street of 3 may, ulica 3 maja. a pedestrian shopping street, miscellaneous pastel stucco and paving bricks. we're across the street from "beer land" and next door to "skok stefczyka" sklep means shop, i made a joke in the car about how a chleb sklep (bread shop) would be a bakery.
baz showed me how his irish phone has polish news on the menu.
the town of sanok sits on the river san. it seems like a lively town, not as small as i'd been led to imagine it, really a small city on a hill. in the valley a low bridge with high railings crosses the san, leads to the sosenki and the "skansen" which i think is a big old defensive fortress or something.
mid afternoon we go get a taxi to the barbecue back at sosenki. prosze rachunek. the bill please. mozje me zapwacic? may we pay you? the lady said something like bardzo prosze, or hugely pleasethankyou.
