beware of friday the 4th
on friday afternoon, an art gallery on the leidsegracht had to hastily move house, with the result that a bunch of paintings and other stuff got left on the sidewalk. people came by and just took big paintings home.
also on friday afternoon, a man washing windows five high on a building in oud-west slipped and fell from his ladder and died.
also on friday afternoon, an elderly worker at the molen van sloten (the windmill pani and i used to sometimes walk to when we lived in osdorp) fell from the windmill and died. one of the wings of the windmill whacked him and he fell over the railing.
also on friday afternoon, a mother and child on bicycle got hit by a car on haarlemmerweg.
fortunately nothing bad happened to me. i'm not too superstitious, but i do make it a policy never to go out on friday the fourth.
