what i don't like about originality
sometimes i used to be accused of being "innovative" ... it made me almost cry ... but in the last few years, i'm meeting more people for whom it seems important to do something nobody has done before, or even tried.
i think that's silly.
"shall i make a statue of venus?"
"no, they already have one somewhere. and anyway the arms always fall off, so why bother."
"how can i make this pasta taste better?"
"a sauce with tomatoes?"
"no, that's been done."
"how about a nice blowjob?"
"nah, thanks, that's been done before."
me i feel completely justified in living, even though i've never had an original thought. everything i've ever tried or talked about or believed is just a variation on a theme. but i've enjoyed making my imprint on life, even if i didn't invent life.
