tv commercials in usa
since i've been in the states for about a week now, i haven't yet seen any of those commercials exhorting me to conserve energy. maybe they don't have them here.
in america they have a lot of tv commercials for cars and medicines. tv is also different here because they will start a news story with dramatic music and a mini-show-open. also, more news stories are about sports figures. they do that in holland too, but they do it more here.
it's the policy of this hotel to send housekeeping staff in to wash your dishes in the dishwasher even if you've only used two of them and already washed them by hand. meanwhile oil prices are up again because of the hurricane ike in the gulf of mexico. lots of flooding in texas and louisiana.
people here are worried that an alaskan woman named palin is gonna lead mccain to victory, like a sort of prom queen joan of arc.
it looks like people in america are as usual about equally divided between preferring republican and democrat for prez. the polls tell a different story outside the US -- obama has a clearer lead among those who can't vote for him.
i spoke to my beloved today, she is okay. i was worried about her. pani is coming here next thursday and then dvr on saturday.
meanwhile i've been trying to get in touch with a certain mr parr, who left a vm for me here on monday but i haven't been able to reach him when i phone back. i hope he emails me.
