i attended a sneak preview of a new dance composition by micheline dumonceau. this happened in a studio on bellamystraat, a short walk from where i live. i thought it was pretty amazing. she had two dancers of about the same height and build, same costume and hairdo, interacting in some ingenious ways. music was by chiel meijering, that was good stuff. reminded me sometimes of that phase in music that i like, with debussy and satie and prokofiev and those guys. but then, they also did some sequences with no music at all, just dancing to silence. that was startlingly cool in a weird way, cuz then the sound is just dancers breathing, and if you closed your eyes you'd think it was people having sex. a committee was there to decide if they liked the piece enough to cause it to be performed for the public. i wonder what they will decide.
later tonight i am going to eijlders to meet with victor about a project.
