not a very good brainstormer
on wednesday i rewrote the script for "how the internet happens", finished shortly before six, then went to eijlders. i had an afsprak to meet kh and n fly. i also got a call from a young man named grayson, son of a friend of a friend, who was visiting town for a couple days and wanted to meet up. so i asked him to meet me there too.
the plan had been that some of us would try the indian restaurant next door to eijlders. but that never happened. i happened to mention that they serve bitterballen at the cafe, and grayson wanted to know what's that, and fly told him "it's a dutch thing" and grayson was intrigued. so we turned to the ever attentive roy (man that guy is a pro) and asked for een portie bitterballen. they showed up a few minutes later. and grayson reached for one. fly and i were both struggling to formulate the words "be careful they're hot" as our visitor popped a bitterbal in his mouth and crunched down on it. he was quiet for a while, but i guess he wasn't seriously injured. around the time kh showed up, fly ordered more snacks, één warme en één koude bittergarnituur. so all that distracted us from being hungry, and we never went to dinner.
later we walked over to the cave, joined by marina and micky and djox and menna. kh took off at a reasonable hour. the rest of us managed to get out of there before the lights came on. grayson went back to his hostel, the rest of us got in a taxi to wdw. we tried to keep the noise down cuz we figured jk needed his sleep, as he had an important meeting the next day.
thursday turned out to be kind of a negative-energy day, so i'm glad i missed most of it. it's as if some big hand had taken a brush and painted my tribe with a broad swath of "yuck". marina had several things upset her. jk got misled by a computer-generated map while trying to find his meeting in the rain. kh was kinda miffed that i had neglected to tell him who the opdrachtgever was, although i thought i had correctly described the mission. and then i was all confused because i thought i had addressed the needs of the creative brief.
but i always have trouble talking about writing. if somebody asks me what would you change about these two paragraphs, i can't answer the question verbally, i have to just go do it. i've never been a very good "brainstormer" cuz my process only lights up when i'm left alone to think. maybe sometimes people get frustrated with my "i don't know until i try it" answers.
