too cold in hannover, try africa
yesterday evening i was eating a salad, and marina told me she'd heard about three little german kids who decided it was way too cold there, so they packed their bags and set off for africa.
there was a boy and two girls, ages five, six and seven. two of them were planning to get married in africa, and they brought along the little sister as a witness. they packed their suitcases and sneaked out of the house early on new years' day. they got as far as the hannover bahnhof, where they were about to board the airport train when some police stopped them.
this is an example of a news story which does satisfy my wondering "why?" -- the answer is "because it's so nice and warm there".
