miepfeest
i want to have a party on 15 february 09 in honor of the 100th birthday of hermine gies-santrouschitz (miep gies). i looked on miepgies.nl and saw a message to the effect that as of recently she is still alive and doing not too bad. i don't think she'll be able to come to our party, but i think we should have one anyway.
i also dropped a message to at5 to ask if they know about anything the city might be planning in honor of one of their most famous amsterdammers (or former amsterdammers as the case may be -- i don't know where miep lives at the moment).
if my dutch was better i would even get in touch with city hall and ask if they know anything about plans to celebrate miep's 100th birthday.
editor of het parool says she will try to get an interview w miep.
