we must all carry the music of the dead
tonight i was in the kitchen talking with jk about how i have a hard time scheduling when i'm going to be the genius i'm sometimes expected to be. and wishing i could enable myself somehow to be smart enough, all the time, to work faster and better. i suggested that age and arteries may be dimming me, but jk retorted that much younger and healthier people than i also have trouble thinking fast enough to be productive enough.
all the time we were talking, i was thinking of the song "do what you can" which i wrote in the early 90s and didn't record till 2002. the theme, and the many variations on the theme, kept running through my head.
i came downstairs and listened to it,
