weather strange
seems to me the weather in amsterdam has been pretty gentle lately. we had some small snowfall again, and it's been cold, but no disasters. stark contrast to everywhere else.
there was big snow in the UK, many roads closed and planes delayed at london, fortunately jk managed to get home safe. still more snow expected. the snow is hurting the already hurt economy.
there was a tornado near malaga. 25 people injured.
heavy rains in north morocco caused houses to collapse, people died.
also big floods in north australia, some towns submerged with crocodiles swimming in the streets. chance of a hurricane to come.
also severe flooding in guadalcanal, solomon islands ...
what else is going on besides weird weather:
iran, celebrating the 30th anniversary of its islamic revolution, launched its own satellite into space.
in colombia, farc is releasing more of its long-time hostages.
in holland, geert wilders has gone to the hoge raad with lawyer bram moskowitz to prevent his being prosecuted for on-setting to hate and insulting a group of people.
my friend got busy translating a book of correspondence by an artist code-named "skinny" from polish to english.
and i now have a jar of imported polish mustard. imported from ireland that is.
