parallel
there occurred to me a parallel between the paradox of the nature of light and that of the nature of the spirit. light is both corpuscular and continuous, both wave and particle. so it seems with the spirit also. there appears to be a pervasive spirit of which all things are manifestations and articulations. but there also appear to be individual particles of spirit in the form of "souls."
it seems intuitively sensible that light and spirit should be similar. the "mechanics" explaining just how spirit can at once be a person's soul and also part of the universal consciousness are still opaque to me.
but the other thing is today as i was walking up st paul from the trolley stop on beacon, i began to have the nagging feeling that this duality, and the apprehension of it, would somehow affect my thinking about the problem of anarchy.
