went to rembrandtpark
tuesday afternoon pani smsd me and invited me to come over to rembrandtpark. it was sunny, i was almost blinded. we sat on a bench for a while and watched the dogs and the dog owners. and i saw the trees with green on their trunks, which reminded me of the march pre-springtime when pani first came to amsterdam in 2003. the possibility that this was spidertime for me and my friend wasn't lost on me -- she may get hired to a job in cork, and if not that job then maybe the next one.
on the way back we stopped at the volendammer vis winkel and each got a bakje of makereel salade. so far today i have eaten three mackerel sandwiches. tomorrow i will try eating something that isn't mackerel.
by the way, the news says that soon there will be a ban on fishing for paling (eel). because the paling are very low in number for some reason. i don't think it's just overfishing, i think there's something else environmentally going on that's giving paling a hard time. they're gonna lay off paling for a while to give them a chance to recover (we hope).
today (tuesday i mean) was st patrick's day. i stayed home cuz i was afraid to run into crowds. i kept in touch with the people who had gone to mulligan's, but was glad i did not go there myself cuz i'm told it was just as jam packed as i was afraid of.
in the evening, marina came home with vasco, who just returned from plovdiv and he is in love. then jk got home, then anna came over. jk went to bed and anna went home and marina and vasco went out again to the waterhole in leidseplein.
i told marina about my vague movie idea to be filmed in bulgaria about the singing widow. she said she would help me, but she doesn't want to fuck it up by making it somehow not be my movie.
i heard from my nephew dylan. he says he has been dizzy lately. i think maybe it's those crazy procedural animations he's working on, that are making him dizzy.
i've been hearing some odd sounds from my little window today. i just heard what sounded like a gang of ducks, or maybe geese. and earlier today i swear i heard a giant ship's horn blaring some blocks away, which would be strange cuz there are only occasional canals around here, no deep water.
i have made some more intensely visual designs for jk's web site, but have yet to convert them into web form -- so far it's just sketches. i was hoping to have that done by wednesday, but now i think i'll be a bit delayed.
