my friends listened
my friends listened patiently to me during much of yesterday (saturday). finally last night i had to go talk to her. it was killing me. we figured some things out i guess. instead of goodbye forever, it was more like, make sure when you see me it's because you really want to see me.
[note 2007 -- it was in the next few months after this that i began investigating leaving the US and moving to amsterdam. i made a trip to amsterdam in late october 2002. i stayed at the "old tulip" aka NH amsterdam city centre hotel on spuistraat. while on that trip, by complete coincidence i offered to wait for someone to deliver a futon to hg's apartment, because he had to go out of town on the delivery date. the doorbell rang while i was waiting, but it wasn't the futon guy, it was lgf, who had come to pick up his wallpapering tools from hg. mgas was there too, and invited me to dinner out in osdorp. at dinner they told me they were moving to new york as soon as possible, and were looking for a renter for their flat at vätternkade 40. i thought about it in my hotel room that night. the next day i phoned lgf to say i would like to take his flat for six months, starting in january. and i picked up the phone book looking for an immigration lawyer in amsterdam. i earned a fair amount of money on a job for IBM software, with which i was able to finance the trip, legal fees, and my first six months' rent. oddly enough i haven't found any journal entries on my computer relating to this time, so i thought i should write this in. sgc]
