boekenstijn out
a guy named arend jan boekenstijn resigned from the dutch parliament last night, cuz people were mad at him for talking publicly about what the queen had to say in a meeting with the parliamentarians. supposedly these conferences with the queen are supposed to be strictly confidential. oddly enough, the parliamentarian had had nothing but praise for the queen in his comments to the press. but a short while later, he was very apologetic for saying anything, and quit his job in parliament.
the political press are expressing disbelief that he could have made such a blunder.
me i'm like, huh? what's with the secrecy? why shouldn't everything the government does be made public, if the public is paying for them to have jobs at all?
