twice as many requests for welfare
at5: uwv says that in amsterdam, the number of requests for uitkeringen is 64 % higher than this time last year, and twice as high as in 2008. unemployment in amsterdam is higher than in nederland at large.
also: the owner of a building in oost went in to his building to talk to the people who had cracked it, because he wants to sign a lease to start a new italian restaurant in that space. when he let himself (and some friends) in, he got arrested and put in jail for disturbing the domestic peace.
the krakers spokesman says the man clearly wasn't there to talk, they considered it an attempt to throw them out.
