writer lizzy van leeuwen in de groene amsterdammer in sep 09 theorizes that geert wilders' indonesian ancestry has strongly influenced his political attitudes. especially the rather sneaky 'expulsion' of his grandparents from that land by the colonial govt, she says had a devastating effect on the family. feelings of betrayal etc.

i find any story of indonesian colonial/postcolonial politics hard to follow. it's just very convoluted. factions against factions. high indo membership in NSB. extreme feelings of patriotism for a country far away ... it boggles my mind.
