separation of church and state not working out
i think we're watching the idea of separation of church and state failing in the world. it's starting to fail even right here in NL, which was sposed to be a modern socially conscious secular society.
to me this actually seems kinda natural. the idea of state is a kind of tribalism, just like religion. theories that states could be made better, by making them 'non-confessional', may have been just temporary patches enabling us to morally preserve the idea of the state.
in ancient times, when you refused to support the state and its religion, they called it sedition.
