saw 'a bout de souffle'
i watched godard's 1962 movie 'a bout de souffle' (breathless) which oddly enough made me think it should be 'about the soufflé' ... it's about a thief who is in love with a short haired pretty woman from new york. kind of a cool movie, i liked the way he used the jump cuts. some things felt a bit off, like at the end the cops shoot at michel in the street, and he runs down the street bleeding with camera following him, but all the real life people walking in the street don't seem the least bit concerned -- because in fact they don't see any cops and haven't heard any gunshots. might have been better if they'd shot that scene at dawn on a sunday.
yeah and the other cool thing was that the thief was vehemently in love with paris itself, he kept commenting on how beautiful this or that was. even though he wasn't much of a 'romantic'.
