debt = slavery
we need to write about slavery so people will be reminded of what it really is. get over the idea that slavery was abolished. slavery is exploitation of some people by other people. it goes against liberty.
in slavery, people often become financial assets to other people. also, your debt is a financial asset to someone. debt is what it feels like: slavery. people can try to avoid it, but they don't always succeed. the kind of slavery where you get physically kidnapped and forced to work is only different in application, not in principle, to the kind where you are born owing money — or where prices and standards of living are skewed so as to force you to borrow.
really, any action that constrains someone's natural freedom is an application of slavery. this includes, in my opinion, laws restricting migration of people from place to place.
