about that news ribbon idea
i just started looking at some RSS feeds for news from amsterdam. the problem seems to be news coverage itself. so far i haven't found anyone who's out there covering what's happening hour by hour, minute by minute, in amsterdam. maybe it costs too much to do that. i'm almost tempted to say there isn't enough news, but actually that's not true. maybe there's just not enough reporting. if one of the local radio stations got seriously into the act, that might be what i want. but usually their only up-to-the-minute reports are about traffic jams.
i am getting kind of picky about some stuff. i asked my friend michele to (among other things) go find me a nice wall clock. but then as i thought more about it, what kind of clock i wanted was getting very specific. round, white with black markings and hands, pref no numerals, auto-correcting for time via network or radio sync, and at least 60 cm in diameter. turns out there actually is something close to that, and i believe it's even made in holland. not sure if you can buy it except from the web winkel. the alternative, which also seems like a kinda cool idea, would be a clock that sits on your desk and beams the clock face optically onto your wall. the only drawback there is that sometimes my studio gets very sunny, then it might be hard to see what time it is.
