rumor that unrelated cohabitation would be forbidden
in tuesday's telegraaf there was a story about how the gemeente was planning to make it illegal to live together (in subsidized housing) if you're not in a relationship. everybody got all up in arms about it. i started looking for the law they were saying made this possible, read much of the huisvesting rules, but couldn't find anything strictly definining it. stadsregio did gather tuesday and in their newsbrief they say they made some minor word tweaks, and that the proposal to modify article 1 relating to woongroeps, was 'vervallen'. so either the regioraad is trying real hard to keep the news small, or de telegraaf was trying real hard to get our adrenaline up.
anyway so i wrote this on facebook:
'verbaasd door die geruchten 'gemeente zegt geen relatie, geen woning' van dinsdag ... wilde ik de echte wet opzoeken, waardoor dat mogelijk is. ik heb deze stuk van stadsregio gevonden, die zou gelden begin 2010. wat een puinhoop regels is dat.'
which i know of course is fairly mutilated dutch. then i pumped that back into nicetranslator.com to see what english it might give.

which of course has precious little to do with what i meant. but i love this phrase 'no houses of tuesday'.
also thursday evening i had dinner over in beukenplein at 'thai coon' restaurant, with kees, dvr and jaap. we discussed the move to his new hosting company and the new domains i wanted to register. sounds like it can happen fairly quick and painlessly. i'll cross my fingers anyway!
