largo della zecca, genova
i was just bumbling around google street view for genova and found the place i was amazed by as we drove through it (but couldn't find it again on foot). it's called largo della zecca, near the galleria giuseppe garibaldi.
zecca is also the bottom station of one of genova's several funiculars you can ride up hill with. they even have one that's half elevator and half trainride -- the car goes down straight like a lift for a while, then slips out onto a track and goes riding somewhere else. i saw it on youtube. genova has lots of transportation options. a city worthy of much study!
