de waag is sinking
parool from 10 dec, says most of de waag (the pointy 1400s building in nieuwmarkt that was once a gateway to the city) is sinking, but the mason's tower is not, and if we don't give it a new foundation soon the building may start to tear itself apart. there are already a lot of cracks in it.

meanwhile the scandal that's become known as de amsterdamse zedenzaak (~'the amsterdam morals case') is growing. there's almost nothing else on the news.
turns out some parents who already complained about robert m back in 2008 were ignored by police and GGD, because the testimony of their toddler was considered unreliable. now hundreds of parents are calling the special hotline and attending meetings. people are not sure how to deal with their own kids now, that there's a possibility they were sexually abused and exhibited in child-porn clips worldwide, before they were old enough to talk.
george was here tonight, he says he knows someone whose child was in the creche in de pijp where robert m worked.
a stash of child-porn was discovered in milford, massachusetts, and people there recognized that the kid's pajamas and stuffed animal in one of the pictures wasn't of US make. so they asked interpol to check it out, and somebody in NL figured out the stuffed animal was a 'nijntje' doll. they posted a picture of the little boy on opsporing gezocht on tv, and the parents immediately called to identify their child. robert m was arrested that same night.
