partial meltdown at japanese nuclear plant
because of damage from yesterday's earthquake, five nuclear power plants in japan are in an emergency state, and one of them has had a collossal explosion and at least a partial meltdown of its fuel rods. radioactive cesium and iodine are emerging into the atmosphere there, and they're not sure how bad it will get. apparently now they're trying to pump seawater into the thing to help the cooling.
this evening i went to dinner at mayke's place, and saw menno and cathelijne and robyn.
