trying to think what i might have recently come in contact with which is different from before, to trigger the latest outbreak of excema. wikipedia article said it can be a delayed reaction.
i started painting with acrylics again last november. i used to paint all the time with acrylic paint when i was young, never had excema then -- in fact the first time i ever got it was at age 23. maybe there are some colors i'm using now that i've not used before, and i'm sensitive to one of them.
maybe whoever makes 'dreft' dish detergent has changed the formula, exposing me to a new detergent. for that matter, any of the processed foods i eat may have some new ingredient or some new process.
dietary changes? what have i been consuming recently that i didn't before? i ate some steamed spruitjes a couple weeks ago, i don't usually eat those. and i tried a bit of mierikswortel that nicole had in a jar. but it's not like i've never eaten horseradish before, i used to eat that all the time. while nicole was away i bought (and ate) two bakjes of makreelsalade from the volendammer viswinkel. which should be good for you. but i think this excema problem was already starting before nicole went on her holiday to jordan.
i'm stumped. apparently excema confuses everybody; when you read about it, some experts advocate treating it with immunosuppressants, while others suggest fortifying the immune system. some recommend no contact with water, others say take three short baths a day.
today pani ani brought me a new (non-prescription) creme from her pharmacy called 'dermalex' which is meant to treat exceem en huidirritatie. i'm not sure if i should avoid the disinfectant gel george gave me; theoretically it keeps my skin from getting infected, but it also dries the skin (and hurts like hell now that my hands are all blistery).
scratching the skin makes it worse. i wonder why.
