takes a lot of brain energy
i find that it takes an awful lot of brain energy to write a product script. trying to find the right sequence of ideas, reasonable shot order, and the most concise clear narration, takes a lot out of me. same thing goes for that documentary style editing i was doing for victor, where you're trying to use real life interview clips to tell a pre-known story. it's exhausting.
i'm enjoying reading the books of jay atkinson, got four of them late last week from amazon.
i made a donation to the stichting 'stop loverboys nu', which is run by a lady named anita, and which tries to intervene with victims of charming pimps all over the netherlands. it's a good cause, i wish i was richer. and i wish i knew what else i could do to try and stop slavery.
sometimes i wonder, in those cases where perps in court claim that what the woman sees as gang rape was actually a consensual orgy, is it just their misapprehension? do they not grasp the difference?
moreover, do they just not realize that being a pimp isn't actually part of a man's natural right?
the amount of time they apparently invest in cultivating schoolgirls for prostitution, by going through the whole love charade, makes me think they must be acutely aware of what they're engaged in. what we haven't heard yet, is why they think it's a good thing to do. again, because nobody is putting the perpetrators in the public spotlight, we have no idea what the fuck they're thinking.
the other bad thing is that in the reality tv documentaries they're very often spoken of as 'a black guy' or 'three moroccans in a fancy car'. enhancing the dangerous public misperception that moroccanness is what causes pimping.
