went to an opera
monday alain invited me to go see a german opera called 'orest' at the muziektheater, with nieke and julie. it was quite a production i thought. a two-story home was rising and falling and curtains kinda clamshelling to focus the attention on one floor or the other, and there was a big staircase on one side and huge windows with snow falling behind them. the music was interesting if zero melodic, and the choreography kept me on my toes because i kept thinking where'd she come from? how did that get there? but, all those greek mythological characters were so sad and inexplicably tragic that after 90 minutes i was like sheesh thank god that's over. then we all had a cig, then we all went back to the café blauwbrug.
i was worried that i might never make plans to get out of amsterdam for xmas / oud-en-nieuw, so i made a hotel reservation in porto, portugal for 23 dec - 02 jan. at the pestana porto hotel on praça da ribeira. thing is, i still haven't quite figured out how i'm getting there. i was thinking to go by rail, but that's looking like quite an ordeal now that i'm not 17 years old any more.
pani is coming to town tuesday evening.
i need to finish the bpif postproduction by 15 dec. better get going on that. also i need to help nieke shoot something on thursday for her project.
