now 9 years in ams
a few minutes ago i finally finished the transcription of all my scanned papers from the gabo s project, whose first notes are from 1980 and 1981, much of it from 1982, then a new attempt in 1988, then i seem to have given up on it for 24 years. actually i didn't even have the paper notes with me until i picked them up in buffalo in 2008. so now all that stuff is in digital form, possibly making it easier to search and derive bits from. if not, at least the process of scanning it all, reading and typing has re-familiarized me with how far i got into the thought process.
monday night, soon after arriving home, i went to mr tong's cuz i wanted some soon laat tong soup and some dumplings and a couple of beers. i got there so late that after dinner mr tong and the two women and i sat around drinking 'finkbräu' beers and he ate dadels with cream cheese and we smoked cigs. that was kinda fun. abi is always funny in a quiet way, the way she looks at you with amazement, as if you had antlers. she does not drink alcohol.
after leaving them i went to the cave, and was surprised to find several of my friends there, and i drank more beers and we closed that place. then i didn't get to sleep until something like 6 in the morning. woke up around 12 i think. surprised not to have any hangover because i thought i had consumed a lot of beer. i've been pretty much working on my transcripts all day tuesday -- which coincidentally was my ninth anniversary of arriving in amsterdam to live.
