things i've been doing
try to catch up here ...
in february i went to vienna at ECR time, and saw pam, jim c, pani and bazek. it was good to see them. on first impression i find vienna visually oppressive. too much imperial feeling, too much symmetry. i went there with the ICE train, two rides, changing at frankfurt. total journey about 11 hours.
a week ago we started the 'hier soir' project for aleksandra by recording the soundtrack at a church in bloemendaal. on friday i got mad at grzes about something he said in an email, and my reaction caused a lot of grief, and now i feel bad about that. but moving on. we're thinking of trying to shoot at least some of it in paris. won't be easy scheduling that though.
i've got two of the sound plays finished. the third one is written but i haven't started production yet. got an idea for the fourth one, need to write it.
i finally bought some more paint so i can paint some more paintings. started one on saturday afternoon.
i'm planning another project called 'crash cinema' to shoot in may. it's to be a series of short movies about how to make better movies, kinda targeted at beginners. it's hard writing the scripts, because i want to make everything short and simple.
also theoretically working on a public awareness film about tomosynthesis, but i think we're still waiting for script approval on that.
nicole is going to amman at the end of this week for a much needed vacation. she's working real hard at the cake shop.
i spoke to jk on friday night, he sounded okay. but i was unable to reach him last night to invite him for dinner at tong's.
i heard, somewhat to my dismay, that chico's bar will only be open until the beginning of august. then he has to close because the owner will renovate the building. seems a bit of a shame, because so much work went into making it a nice environment to hang out in.
