anonymity madness
last wednesday in the vancouver BC area, a young woman named amanda todd killed herself after being threatened and persecuted by an anonymous guy on the internet. the world was outraged.
yesterday an anonymous (masked) guy claiming to be from 'anonymous' (the hacker group) got on youtube and claimed that the perp's name was kody ______, and promised to give out more information about him, including his home address. said kody is now being threatened via internet.
maybe kody is the bad guy who hurt amanda. or maybe the supposed 'anonymous' spokesman was just another anonymous guy scheming for the worst way to hurt kody. i don't know.
so this becomes another twist in the story of privacy, where privacy = anonymity. and another kink in the fate of knowing.
