'walk me through it'
i was just thinking about how it used to happen, when i was working as a writer/ creative director for others. you'd go to a meeting with your proposal sent ahead of time, and the client would say 'okay just walk us through it.' i would wonder like what do you want me to read it to you? 'no, just walk us through it'. i think this was usually code for 'i have neither the time nor the inclination to read what you actually wrote, so please put on some kind of performance for me.' that really used to make me mad, and just thinking about it now makes me mad again.
i want to have the conversation turn into: 'if you don't want to read what i took two days writing for you, then why are you bothering me?'. that never happened as far as i know. although i am told i did piss off some prospects who were expecting the usual dog and pony show.
